Optical Coffee Chat: Mathematics for Practice – from corporate problems to concrete solutions
How can mathematics assist in decision-making, production, or energy management? How for optimization or analysis of image data? At the online meeting of the Czech Optical Cluster on October 5, we introduced the Technological Platform KMA and specific examples and areas of cooperation with companies. A review of the event is provided by the article "Mathematics You Didn’t Know You Needed".

OLAF Project: smart photovoltaic management – saving households money and stabilizing the grid
Mathematicians from Faculty of Science, UP are involved in the development of a system that will use mathematical optimization and machine learning to automatically decide when a household should consume electricity from a photovoltaic power plant, store it in a battery, or feed it into the grid. The OLAF project aims to result in smart home energy management that will reduce costs for photovoltaic owners and simultaneously help stabilize the electricity grid operation. The system is currently being tested at 150 locations and in five energy communities.

Review: Two years of the KMA Technology Platform—from the first contract to a leader in contractual research
The KMA Technology Platform has now been operating for two years. What began with a small initial contract has grown into collaborations with a number of major companies and institutions, nine contract research projects completed in 2025 alone, and new opportunities for students.
